home of handcut miniature crystal
Jim Irish 1940 - 2017
Jim Irish was a master craftsman and cutter of the finest miniature crystal. He worked with crystal for over 60 years having started an apprenticeship in Waterford Crystal at the tender age of 15.
Jim was the only person in the world creating handcut crystal on this scale. Each piece was crafted from a solid piece of crystal and cut by hand, making every creation unique.
I assisted my Dad, both in his workshop and at shows, and saw firsthand the high level of skill and passion that went into each piece.
In 2000 he received a Certificate from Guinness World Records for the smallest handcut crystal bowl ever made, featuring 208 individual cuts.
Jim lived in Waterford on the South East coast of Ireland all of his life until he passed away in December 2017. He continued to make intricate miniatures into his final years and left an amazing collection that he wanted us to continue to share with you as his legacy.
His work has never been replicated.
He was an extremely gifted and humble man who was a friend to many.
